't Zand developed into a village after the construction of the North Holland Canal in 1824. Here you can still see one of the floating bridges which were a characteristic feature of the North Holland Canal. The Catholic Church adorns the entrance to the village. A nature area is located just outside the village. This is where you’ll find the 'Eendenkooi' (Duck Decoy). This boasts a visitor's centre and a viewing hut. This same polder is also still home to two mills, Zijpe Molen P-V and O-T.
